There are 2 methods of invisible mending, namely grafting and darning. The mender usually decides which method best suits the damage to the garment and it also depends on the pattern, and texture of the material.
- Best method
- Does not damage the garment
- Can be undone
- Maximum invisibility
- With light colours it will always be visible
- Cheaper than weaving
- Damages the garment
- Can not be undone
- More visible
- Line grafts are used to repair long tears
An invisible mender typically calculates the cost based on the circumference of the mend. e.g. If it is a hole with a 5cm circumference the cost will be approximately $95 for weaving and $75 for a square graft. You can see that invisible mending is very labour intensive and can be expensive.
